He said that the Resurgence Pack will be sold for 1200 points ($15) and as the earlier Stimulus Package, this map pack also feature five maps, in which there are three new environments and two maps updated from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. These two are
Vacant, set inside an open Russian complex, and urban environment Strike.

Below are the details of three new maps as shared by Robert Bowling:

Carnival – This map is set inside a “desolated amusement park” and it has unique locations like a rollercoaster and fun house.

Trailer Park – Bowling says that this is a cozy map and it features abandoned trailers and tight corridors. He also says further that this map is like a maze with various chokepoints.

Fuel – This is like a “sniper haven”. It is based in an oil refinery and according to him this is one of the larger environments of the game.

DLC pricing addressed by the studio

March 28th, 2010

Robert Bowling, the community manager of Infinity Ward, maintained optimistic tone while addressing the morale at the studio of MW2 after the dismissal of its two top executives and also a subsequent lawsuit against Activision.
Bowling said in an interview that it’s “business as usual” at the studio as the company prepares to release first batch of downloadable content for the game.

On the website Bowling said, “Right now morale is high, because we’re really excited to get this DLC out. Any time we’re just about to launch something out to the community, morale boosts up, because you’re excited to see what your players think of it, and to watch them get on there and see what tactics they come up with.”

The two top executives who were expelled were former Infinity Ward execs Jason West and Vince Zampella. The two sued Activision for breach of contract and are now seeking $36 million along with the rights to all Modern Warfare branded titles.

However, Activision calls this lawsuit as “meritless.”

The upcoming DLC is called Stimulus Package and Bowling defended its price tag to be $15.

He said, “I think from a content standpoint, anyone who is playing Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer and is dedicating a lot of hours to it is definitely going to get their money’s worth from this map pack.”

The DLC features 5 multiplayer maps that includes the two from 2007′s Call of Duty 4. By next week it will be available on Xbox 360.

Bowling confirms 3rd Person perspective

October 27th, 2009

call-of-duty-modern-warfare2Robert Bowling at last confirmed about the 3rd person perspective. He said to Joystiq, “It’s not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game. The special mode can only be played in private matches — toggled on or off just like “Hardcore” settings — or in playlists that are designated for third-person play.”

Bowling added further, “This is just another cool way to play the game, you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well.”

According to IGN, they have cross checked this news with Robert Bowling for its accuracy.

Previously there was a leaked copy in French that spotted 3rd Person Team Deathmath and Cage Match 3rd Person. All these back up the 3re person claims.

October 10th, 2009

mw2_robert-bowlingUpon outfit customization to be there in the player Robert Bowling tweeted that it is not usually that. He said that they have focused on the gameplay customization with weapon and class loadouts even though the character models are determined by the loadouts.

Bowling also added that gamers can spawn with a set weapon loadout but at the same time can also swap with the hidden weapon cache around some of the levels.

Here are those tweeted discussions:

@fourzerotwo hey been following your twitter for atleast 60 days just had a question is there gonna be an outfit custimization for your plyr

@EazyizMW2 Not visually. We focus on gameplay customization w/ weapon & class loadouts. Character models are determined by loadouts though.

@fourzerotwo will there be set classes for spec ops or will we be able to customize a weapon loadout?

@vinacent You’ll spawn with a set weapon loadout, but can swap with hidden weapon cache around some of the levels.

No local matchmaking for Modern Warfare 2 confirms Bowling

September 29th, 2009

Modern_Warfare_2_There will be no option to allow players to search multiplayer games within the same region or same country. This has been confirmed by Infinity Ward after several requests by international players in improving lag in the game.

Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist of Infinity Ward, posted on Twitter saying, “There isn’t an option to search specific regions/ countries when matchmaking, but there is improved matchmaking to auto-assist.” He writes further that the improved matchmaking system will be automatically connecting players to games that best suits for their connection.

When Robert Bowling asked whether local matchmaking in a later patch could be added, then he said that it was a possibility. He wrote, “We’ll monitor community feedback closely post launch to see if the improved matchmaking benefits international users or not.”

There was also a large thread generated in the Infinity Ward forums by a New Zealand user. He described his playing experience there in the previous series of the game against North American players.

He wrote: “You encounter an enemy, you shoot at him with enough rounds for a kill with your AK or your sniper rifle and the ‘X’ damage indicator comes up. But for some reason you die and he does not. You watch the killcam to see why you died, and apparently you didn’t even fire off a shot. You just got killed by lag.”

Dual-wield weapons in Modern Warfare 2

August 27th, 2009

Modern Warfare 2 will be having dual-wield weapons. This has been now officially confirmed by Infinity Ward.

Robert Bowling, the community manager of Infinity Ward, twittered that akimbo pistols would feature in the game. He said this recently after giving a presentation of Modern Warfare 2.

Let me quote Bowling what he said: “Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting ‘pick it up!’ when I stumbled over dual-wield Deagles. lol – Akimbo confirmed.”

On the official forum of Infinity Ward the above statement was elaborated. Here Bowling tried to allay fears that akimbo pistols would be to ooverpowered.

He said, “Now to calm some initial fears of ‘OMG! Overpowered!’. Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like everything in the game. It’s limited to side-arms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand.”

He also added there, “So don’t freak out before you see it in action.”

On the forum it was not made clear when the fans of Modern Warfare 2 will get a chance to see it in action.

No beta for public, but can hope for it

August 20th, 2009

Rumor is there that Modern Warfare 2 is going to get a public beta. Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward puts a check on this rumor. He says that they will be doing an internal beta, but if they feel for a public beta then they will explore that route also.

Bowling said that they will not say something as definitive as ‘No Beta Ever!’ He added that as of now all the fans and gamers have to wait till November 10. He further mentioned, “Unless of course you happen to be 50 Cent, Will Arnett, Dane Cook, or any other celebrity that wants to stop by.”

According to Bowling, “Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn’t receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect…we would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned.”

Long story. But we can still keep an expectation that before November 10 we may (only may) get to play Modern Warfare 2. Well, put down your views here whether you all really want a beta version of the game.
